Maximum Computer Systems is focused on developing strategies that will ensure the competitive edge that you need for mission critical business. Our highly trained, certified professionals know how to apply their knowledge to meet your business requirements.
Migration Services
MCS offers maximum functionality to your existing equipment. Of course, if you do require new hardware, Maximum Computer Systems is in the best position to help you assemble the optimum package to meet your needs. CISC to RISC and RISC to RISC migrations, system installs and upgrades, PTF installation, performance analysis and the fine tuning of your Power Systems™ are only a few of the ways that we keep our customers on the cutting edge of the business evolution.
Listen to what our customers have to say:
John Poole of Daycon in Upper Marlboro, MD, upgraded to an IBM 520. He stated, " The process and execution of the upgrade plan, coupled with MCS competence, allowed me to sit around, relax and catch the Redskin's game while everything went according to plan. Our business resumed on Monday and with the exceptions of being faster and a few tweaks to be made, no one would know we even came in over the weekend."
When Gary Jarvis of Pet Food Experts upgraded their server to a new 720 he relied on MCS. "MCS was invaluable in helping with a seamless transition of data, licenses and upgrade procedures. The MCS team was exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a successful migration without any business interruption."
LPAR Services
MCS also can assist you with logical partitioning (LPAR). LPAR is relatively simple, but implementing a successful LPAR can be complex. The concept LPAR allows one physical system to be split into two or more logical systems. LPAR’s benefits include server consolidation, a single point of administration and the efficient use of system resources. LPAR on the Power Systems™ is supported by the System i, AIX, Linux operating systems.
It’s a good idea to first analyze your current environment documenting each partition’s system requirements, monitoring system activity and then analyzing the results. We can help with this procedure which includes the following guidelines.
- Describe each partition’s critical jobs, job streams and processing functions.
- Understand the processing windows needed for each partition.
- Gather performance data. The data should be gathered by partition, by day, by week and by month.
- Consolidate and analyze data using a tool such as performance monitor to create an overall picture of system resources.
LPAR on the Power Systems™ has re-energized server consolidation and IT cost optimization strategies. Today, clients have successfully deployed LPAR to achieve quick consolidation of multiple workload environments, time zones and footprints within a single or fewer Power Systems. These clients have taken advantage of LPAR to benefit from the growing industry trend and the desire to optimize IT investments and resource virtualization through consolidation of hardware, software, networks, data centers and more importantly skills.
MCS provides a full range of LPAR services: planning, design, implementation and training. We can also provide you with any needed hardware and software for LPAR implementation.
Performance Analysis
MCS also provides performance analysis services. Performance analysis is a form of dynamic program analysis to investigate a program’s behavior using information gathered as the program executes. The purpose of the analysis is to determine which sections of a program to optimize, increase it’s speed, decrease its memory requirement or sometimes both. MCS can help you understand the techniques of performance analysis of systems and partitions running the IBM i. We have a team of experts that can teach your staff how the IBM i operates and interfaces with applications to better manage performance on the systems and partitions running IBM i. MCS can analyze system performance issues and recommend changes to resolve system performance problems. We can apply methods and tools available with IBM i to analyze and tune performance.
Backup and Recovery
MCS can outline a backup and recovery plan and provide you with the right technology so that you are not caught in this situation facing hours or days of downtime and wondering when your business will be back up and running. Failure to secure a safe plan will cost you even more money. Let us help you prepare and execute a safe plan so your business does not face a major disruption.
Backing up data and then recovering is sometimes neglected in businesses. If you don’t have a good backup procedure in place your business can come to a complete halt.
Several questions plaque executives when facing a recovery.
- Can I recover?
- How long will it take?
- Will I lose any data?
- Will I have to re-run any work?
- How much will it cost?
MCS can outline a backup and recovery plan and provide you with the right technology so that you are not caught in this situation facing hours or days of downtime and wondering when your business will be back up and running. Failure to secure a safe plan will cost you even more money. Let us help you prepare and execute a safe plan so your business does not face a major disruption.
